RingCentral requires that any computer or desktop phone which makes or receives calls has an up-to-date emergency response location (ERL) set. Butler IT manages the ERLs for physical desk phones, but faculty and staff are responsible for keeping the ERL up to date in the RingCentral app on their Butler computer.
Note: If you have relocated a physical desk phone, please submit a case for IT as soon as possible so that the ERL for the desk phone can be updated.Given the flexibility of the RingCentral system, the desktop app will alert you any time it detects that you may need to update your ERL (such as when you arrive on campus, when you work from home, or if you work from a different off-site location).
Why does RingCentral keep prompting for me to confirm my location? When setting your ERL, you will notice that IT has pre-populated RingCentral with several
company ERLs, which provide the addresses of each campus building. Aside from these, you may also create
personal ERLs which only you can see or use. It is recommended that you exclusively utilize personal ERLs, so that you may customize your location to include your office room number. When RingCentral requires you to update your ERL, you will see a gray banner at the top of the app which looks like this. You may click
Review Location to update your ERL, or follow the instructions below.
