Resolution Description | Connecting to BUfiles:
For Mac:
Make sure your computer is connected to the Butler network via "Butler Secure" wireless or a wired connection., or GlobalProtect VPN if you are off-campus (instructions below).
- Open Finder.
- Click Go at the top of the screen.
- Select Connect to Server...
- Type the desired network path. If you wish to connect to the Group folder, type smb://bufiles/group .
- If prompted to authenticate, enter your username and password and then press Connect.
- You should now be able to connect to the folder.
For PC:
Make sure your computer is connected to the Butler network via "Butler Secure" Wireless or a wired connection., or GlobalProtect VPN if you are off-campus (instructions below).
- Click on the Windows logo icon on the bottom left and type File Explorer. Click on This PC in the left sidebar.
- Click on the three ellipses toward the top right of the page.
- Click Map Network Drive.
- A window will open. From the drop down menu next to Drive, choose any unused drive letter.
- In the Folder line, type the BUfiles folder path you wish to map. If you want to connect to the Group folder, type \\bufiles.butler.edu\group.
- Select the box for Reconnect at login and then click Finish.
- A window may open asking for your credentials.
- Enter BUTLER\username and your password.
- This will connect you to your BUfiles folder and reconnect it every time you start your computer on-campus.
