Wireless Coverage
Butler Secure
The Butler Secure network provides a secure wireless connection to the Butler network. For a list of devices that are prohibited on the network, click here. Most personal devices can connect to this wireless network via Butler username and password. However, some Android devices may have compatibility issues. For these devices, we recommend using BU Secure Wireless instead. Butler owned devices are configured to connect to the Butler Secure wireless network automatically.
BU Secure Wireless
BU Secure Wireless also provides a secure wireless connection to the Butler network. This network may joined via Butler username and password and is recommended for any device that may experience difficulty connecting to Butler Secure.
BU Guest/Open Wireless
The Guest/Open Wireless network is not encrypted and only permits connecting to the Internet; certain Butler services are not available (including printing and BUfiles).
Outdoor Wireless
Butler wireless (Butler Secure, BU Secure, and Guest wireless) are available throughout many outdoor spaces on campus.
Wireless Standards, Interference, and Prohibited Devices
Butler does not allow students to run their own wireless access points, routers, or other devices which may cause interference with the wireless network. For more information, click this link.
