If you are changing your Butler password for the first time:

If you are faculty/staff, have a Butler-owned computer, and are off-campus:
If you are off campus when you change your password, your old password may remain your Butler computer logon password until you return to campus if the steps below are not utilized.
Change your Password:
- Go to password.butler.edu.
- Sign in with your Butler email address and current password.
- Click on Change Password.
- To verify your identity, enter your Current Password and click Continue.
- Enter a new password adhering to the password requirements (What are the password requirements?) and confirm it. Do not reuse a password for another site - ensure your Butler password is unique. Refrain from using the autofill function or randomly generating a password. Click Change Password.
- You will see a screen confirming that your password was successfully changed.
- You will receive a confirmation email stating that your password has been successfully changed. Follow the steps in the email or check out What do I need to do after I change my password?
- Follow the appropriate instructions below for Windows or Mac.
Windows:
- Connect to the GlobalProtect VPN with your new password NOTE: If you are already Connected to the VPN, Click the GlobalProtect Icon (Globe) in the System Tray (near the computer clock), click the Navigation Drawer->Settings, click Sign out, and then Connect to the VPN again with your New Password.
- Lock your computer by pressing the CTRL+ALT-DEL keys and clicking Lock.
- Enter your new password and press enter to unlock your computer.
- Your computer will now logon with your current password in future prompts.
Mac:
- Connect to the GlobalProtect VPN with your new password NOTE: If you are already Connected to the VPN, Click the GlobalProtect Icon (Globe) in the System Tray in the Top Menu Bar, click the Navigation Drawer->Settings, click Sign out, and then Connect to the VPN again with your New Password.
- Click the Apple Menu->Lock Screen.
- Enter your new password and Press Enter (this will unlock your screen).
- You may receive a prompt to update your Login Keychain, Click Update Keychain and enter your old password to unlock the Keychain so it can be updated with your new password.
If you know your current password:
- Go to password.butler.edu and log in.
- Click Change Password.
- Enter a new password adhering to the password requirements (What are the password requirements?) and confirm it. Do not reuse a password for another site - ensure your Butler password is unique. Refrain from using the autofill function or randomly generating a password. Click Change Password. You will receive a confirmation email stating that your password has been successfully changed. Follow the steps in the email or check out What do I need to do after I change my password?.
If you have forgotten your Butler password:
- Go to password.butler.edu and click the Forgot your password? button. Enter your Butler email address and then click Search. Choose one of the available options to send a verification code to your email or mobile phone.
- Retrieve the code and enter it in the Code box. Click Check Code. Once your identity has been verified, click Continue to reset password.
- Enter a new password adhering to the password requirements (What are the password requirements?) and confirm it. Do not reuse a password for another site - ensure your Butler password is unique. Refrain from using the autofill function or randomly generating a password. Click Change Password. You will receive a confirmation email stating that your password has been successfully changed. Follow the steps in the email or check out What do I need to do after I change my password?
If you got a new phone since you last logged in, you will need to reset your two-factor authentication.

DO NOT share your Butler password with anyone at any time. It is a violation of the Butler Computer Use Policy to share your account and/or password with anyone.
