Resolution Description | PRIOR TO UPGRADING:
- CRITICAL: before proceeding, close all Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc), including Teams. Ensure that Teams is closed by clicking the small "up arrow" in the lower right corner of Windows to show hidden icons. Right click the Teams icon and click Quit.
- OFF CAMPUS: connect to the VPN prior to starting this installation. For additional information on connecting to the VPN, read this article: How do I use the GlobalProtect VPN application?.
UPGRADING MICROSOFT OFFICE:
- Open the Start Menu.
- Type "Software Center" and open it. For additional information on opening Software Center, read this article, How to Access Software Center for Application Downloads (Windows 10).
- Under Applications, locate M365 - Microsoft 365 Semi-Annual-Channel-64-bit
- Click Install to install Microsoft (Office) 365 64-bit:
- Installation\upgrade can take up to 30 minutes depending on your computer and location.
- Needed Installation files will begin to download and you may see a % downloaded.
- Once downloaded a Microsoft window will appear with progress bar.
- Microsoft Screen may stay up and say "Office is installed now."
- Once complete, the button will change to say Reinstall; there may also be a window on top that states you are all set and Office is installed now. Click Close.
- Upon first launch of an Office application, you may be prompted to Login/Sign In. Be sure to choose Work/School Butler account if prompted.
