When someone decides to leave Butler, all account access is removed based on the "termination date" of the account. The termination date is the last day of employment (resignation or retirement for Faculty or Staff), affiliation status (for Affiliates of Butler) or withdrawal date (Students).
There are exceptions for people to retain access to certain items. These exceptions are students who graduated from Butler in 2014 or after and retired faculty.
Students Who Leave Butler Without Graduating:
What happens to my account if I leave Butler and don't graduate? (students)
Graduates from May 2014 and Thereafter:
What happens to my account when I graduate?
Retired Faculty Account Information:
Retired faculty members are entitled to keep access to their Butler email, per the Faculty Handbook (accessible
here). While retired faculty members are entitled to keep access to email, the process is not automated. For a retired faculty to keep access to email, the department must submit an Affiliate request form to Human Resources on the retired faculty's behalf. The Affiliate request form (available
here) should be submitted along with the Status Change form.
If a retired faculty member receives conferral of Emeritus status, the department will need to submit an Affiliate request form (available here) with category of Emertius and no renewal date.
Retired Butler Staff:
Butler staff will lose access to all aspects of their Butler accounts the evening following their last day of employment.
