TitleWhat are the password requirements?
Resolution Description

All Butler user account passwords must conform to the rules below:

  • Must contain at least 12 characters
  • Must be no longer than 30 characters
  • Must have at least 1 character that is a special character (ex: ! # + > &)
  • Must have at least 1 character that is a number
  • Cannot contain more than 10 numbers
  • Must not be or contain your name, Butler username, or the words "password," "test," or "butler"
A common technique is to combine a word with numbers and punctuation or to substitute letters with numbers or special characters. Using a passphrase (a phrase or sentence) is easier for some people to remember and is usually more secure than just a password. An example of a valid password would be I love chocolate!1 or ilovechocolate!1.

Note: Passwords are case sensitive.
