TitleShare Teams Folders Using Direct Access
Resolution Description
This article provides instructions for sharing folders or files using the "Direct Access" method. Direct Access allows for more permissions to the person. This can be done for internal Butler people or Guest accounts. The benefit of adding guests is primarily to allow them to create/edit/delete items in the folder which improves collaboration.

Share with Direct Access:

  1. In Teams navigate to the folder or file to be shared
    1. Example: General channel> Files>
  2. Click the circle next to the folder or file to be shared
  3. Click the image.png in the top-right corner
  4. Click "Manage access"
  5. Click the person icon with the "+" icon to the right
  6. Click the drop-down arrow next to the pencil icon to change permissions from "can edit" to "can view" (if view access is all that will be shared)
  7. Enter the email address of the person you wish to share with
  8. Add a message if you want
  9. Make sure the "Notify people" check box is checked
  10. Click "Grant access"
The person will get an email to open the folder and have the ability to add/edit/delete content. If they do not have a Microsoft account, they may have to sign up for one to log in.
