Resolution Description

These instructions are for active courses. If you would like to add an instructor to a concluded course (i.e., courses that were taught over a year and a half ago), please click Create New Case on this page and submit a case for the Online Education and Educational Technology team (OEET@butler.edu) to reactivate the course.

If you need to add an instructor to a course and that instructor is currently taking courses at Butler, you will not be able to add them using the directions below. Please click Create New Case on this page and submit a case for the Online Education and Educational Technology team (OEET@butler.edu
with the individual's name, email address, and the course name.

Adding Instructors with Gradebook Access

Through PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (via my.butler.edu) you are able to enroll a faculty/staff member as an additional instructor in your course once they have filled out the Code of Responsibility form. Be aware that it may take up to 24 hrs for the enrollment to process. (In other words, you will not see the instructor show up in Canvas immediately.) 

To add an additional instructor to your course:

  1. Log on to http://my.butler.edu.
  2. Click on PS Campus Solutions.
  3. Go to Instructor Quick Links.
  4. Select Assign Addl LMS Instructors.
  5. Change Term if needed.
  6. Find the course you wish to add the additional user to and click on the Enter Addl LMS Instructors link to the right of the Class Title field.
  7. Next to the Empl ID field, click on the Magnifying Glass to search the name of the user you wish to add and click on their name to select them.
  8. From the LMS Instructor Type drop-down menu, select the role you want to assign the additional user.
  9. To add additional users, click the plus sign to the right to add another field.
  10. Click Save at the left to save your changes.

Adding Instructors without Gradebook Access

If you need to add another faculty or staff member to your course but they do not need access to the gradebook (and they will not be grading assignments in SpeedGrader), you can add them as a Designer in the course.

Follow the How do I add users to a course? Canvas instructions and make sure to set the Role to "Designer."
