Course is Not Published
If a course is not published, it will not show on a student's Dashboard or in the student's All Courses list. Confirm your course is published by following these steps:
- Log into Canvas.
- Locate your course on the Dashboard and click once on the course tile to enter the course.
- Select Publish located under Course Status (typically on the right of the page).
Note that students do not receive Canvas announcements when a course is unpublished. You may want to recreate any announcements that were made prior to publishing the course; students will be able to see the announcements by clicking "Announcemets" in the course navigation but they will not get the announcement via email or push notification.
Students Have Not Favorited the Course
In Canvas, users can elect to favorite courses (using the stars) to show on their dashboard. If a student reports that some courses are missing, it may be because they favorited (using the stars) some but not all of their courses to show on their dashboard. To fix this, tell students to:
- Click on Courses in the global navigation (blue bar on the left).
- Select All Courses.
- Locate the missing course in the All Courses list.
- Click the star in front of the course name to favorite it. The course will now appear on the Dashboard with the other starred courses.
