Settings for Zoom can be found in three places: at zoom.butler.edu, in the Zoom desktop client, and in an active meeting.
Zoom.butler.edu Settings
The settings at zoom.butler.edu control your overall meeting and recording preferences. You can set preferences like always showing the Zoom control panel, allowing files to be sent in Chat, playing a notification when a recording starts, and more. To locate these settings:
- Log into zoom.butler.edu using your Butler email and password.
- In the menu on the left, select Settings.
- Select Meeting, Recording, or Telephone from the top to see and changes the respective settings.
Zoom Desktop Client Settings
The settings accessed through the desktop client control the defaults for video, audio, screen sharing, and more. In these settings, you can do things like set up Zoom to use dual monitors, adjust your video for low light, control advanced audio settings, add timestamps to recordings, and set accessibility preferences. To access the Zoom Desktop Client settings:
- Launch Zoom from your taskbar or dock or start Zoom from your applications list.
- When Zoom opens, select the gear icon located below your profile picture in the upper right.
- In the settings window, select a setting category from the left to view and make changes. Note that some categories have more settings under the "Advanced" option.
Settings in an Active Meeting
When in a meeting, you have quick access to some settings through the meeting control panel.
- Select the caret next to Audio, Video, or Screen Sharing. Then select the Settings option at the bottom of the menu.
- Access the Security settings by selecting Security from the meeting controls.
