When will a Microsoft Team expire? How do I renew an expired Team?
Teams sites will automatically expire
every year on the anniversary of their creation.
- If the site is still active: Microsoft systems will auto renew it for another year.
- If the site is inactive: team owners will be notified via email (30 days, 15 days, and 1 day before expiration date) that the site will expire and they can renew it manually if desired by clicking Renew now in team settings (for more information, see Related Link below).
Note: if the team owner doesn't renew the team and there is no further activity on the team until the end of the expiration policy, the team is put in a "soft-deleted" state, which means it can be restored within the next 30 days.
