The recommended process is to provision your Panopto folder and then schedule your Zoom meeting inside Canvas in order for Zoom recordings to save automatically to your Panopto course folder. (See
How do I set up Zoom recordings to automatically save to my Panopto course folder? (Instructors)) Use the steps below to automatically save your Zoom videos if:
- you scheduled your Zoom meetings before provisioning your Panopto folder, or
- you scheduled your Zoom meeting in zoom.butler.edu instead of Canvas.
Enter a Folder ID on the Zoom Meeting
Zoom meetings connect to the Panopto course folder through a field in Zoom called "panopto_folder_context". If you are not seeing your Zoom recordings show up in your Panopto folder, this field is likely blank. Fill in this field by following the steps below:
- Navigate to your Canvas course and obtain the course ID from the URL. Your course ID is the number after "courses/" in the URL, e.g. "4568" in https://butler.instructure.com/courses/4568.
- Log into zoom.butler.edu.
- Locate your existing meeting and select Edit. (If editing a recurring meeting, select All meetings.)
- Locate the "panopto_folder_context" field and input your Course ID from step 1.
- Press Save.
Ensure the Zoom Meeting is Recording to the Cloud
A second troubleshooting step is to check to ensure meeting recordings are saving to the cloud.
- After launching your live Zoom meeting, press Record.
- Select Record to the Cloud.
- Verify you are recording by checking the top left of the Zoom window for the "Recording" alert.
