Active vs. Concluded Courses:
A course stays “active” for approximately 2 weeks after the term’s end date. For example, a fall course that is finished being taught on 12/22/2020 will stay active until 1/5/2021 and then will become a “concluded” course. Once a course has concluded, nothing can be altered in the course, it becomes read-only for both instructors and students.
Access:
Students can access both active and past "concluded" courses by default unless the instructor has restricted this in the course settings.
Interacting:
While a course is in the active state, students can participate in a course. Once the course is concluded, it becomes read-only and the content can only be viewed. Again, this can be restricted by the instructor.
Locating Past "Concluded" Courses:
Only active courses will show on the dashboard. Students can view their All Courses list to see previous enrollments.
- Select Courses from the global navigation.
- Select All Courses.
- Scroll down to the Past Enrollments section.
Students can also customize the courses that appear on their Dashboard. Any active course marked as a favorite will appear on the Canvas Dashboard (past courses can't be made to show on your dashboard).
