When printing a Google Doc to a PDF (File >> Print >> Save as PDF), the file is saved as an image-only PDF. In other words, while the file may look like it contains text, the characters are not recognizable by the computer. (One way to test this is to try to highlight or select text.) Since the file is an image, Turnitin cannot score the file and will return an error.
To download a file that Turnitin can read, go to your Google Doc. Then select File >> Download >> PDF Document (.pdf). |
