Syncing Teams file folders to your computer will allow you to access your files from File Explorer or Finder directly - without having to go through Teams. Follow the steps below to sync your Teams files. The sync will only sync files that you are using, so it should not fill up the hard drive space.
Mac OSX:
- Open Teams
- Go to the Channel where your files are
- Click Files in the tabs banner
- Click the Sync icon
- In the window that comes up, verify checks are placed in all the boxes
- Click Start Sync
- Click the X to close the window
- Open Finder and you should see a folder named Butler University
- Inside the folder you will see the folders that correspond to the Teams site you synced
Windows 10/11:
Note: You may be given a "Tour" at some point in this process; progress through that as it is a one time process.
- Open Teams
- Go to the Channel where your files are
- Click Files in the tabs banner
- Click Sync in the toolbar
- Allow permission if asked
- In Windows Explorer, you should see a new icon that looks like office buildings labeled "Butler University"
- Browse through these folders to get to your files
