There may be times when you want to share a channel with posts and files between Teams. These instructions will allow you to create a shared channel and then share it with one or more Teams. You can share the channel with Teams that you are or are not an owner of the receiving Team. NOTE: You do need to have permissions to create channels whether that is because you are an owner or the owner has set the permissions to allow members to create channels (default).
Create a "Shared Channel" in the team:
- Click the ellipses (...) next to the Team name
- Click "Add channel"
- Enter the name of the Shared Channel
- Enter a description (optional)
- Select "Shared" under the "Privacy" area
- Click the "Add" button
- Your channel will now show in the Teams Channels area
Share the channel with a Team that you are not the owner of:
- Click the "More options" ellipses (...) next to the channel name
- Hover over "Share channel>"
- Click "With a Team"
- Type the name or email address of the receiving Team owner
- Select the proper person from the results
- Click "Send Invite"
The receiving owner does the following:
- They will get a notification in the Teams
- Click Accept
- Click the appropriate team to put the channel in
- The original sharer will get a notification to approve the destination team
- Click Accept
- After approval, the new owner will see a notification that it is done
Share the channel with a Team that you are the owner of:
- Click the "More options" ellipses (...) next to the channel name
- Hover over "Share channel>"
- Click "With a Team you own"
- Click the appropriate team from the list

Any files placed in the shared channel will now be available to both teams and members of each team.
Conversations will also be shared and show up in both teams.
