Remember when recording locally that a computer may run out of storage on its hard drive. We advise that if someone records locally, that they upload the recording to Panopto or a shared drive and delete the copy on their device.
Opening Zoom and starting your recording:
- Navigate to http://zoom.butler.edu.
- Sign in with your Butler credentials. (Full Butler email address and password)
- Select host a meeting.
- Select Open Zoom in the pop-up window.
- Choose the audio selection to use for the Zoom meeting.
- In the dock of the Zoom meeting hit the Record button.
- There will be a choice to Record on this Computer or Record to the Cloud.
- To record locally to your computer's hard drive, choose Record on this Computer.
- Stop the recording at the end of the meeting. (If the recording is stopped in the middle of a meeting, it will not create the recording files until that meeting has ended.)
- Allow time for Zoom to convert the meeting - if you close the conversion before it is done, the recording could be lost.
- To record to the Cloud - choose Record to the Cloud.
- An email will be sent to you after the meeting once your recording is ready to be viewed.
If you recorded your meeting locally to your computer Hard Drive:
- Hit the Windows key on the keyboard and then type "Documents" and select the Documents folder.
- Open the Zoom folder within the documents folder.
- Find the folder listed with the correct date and time of the desired recording and open it.
- Double click the file named double_click_to_convert_01.
- The video file is Zoom_0. The audio only file is labeled audio_only.
- Open Finder.
- Select the Documents Folder.
- Open the Zoom folder.
- Double click double_click_to_convert_01
- The video file is Zoom_0. The audio only file is labeled audio_only.
If you recorded your meeting to the Cloud:
- Open a web browser and navigate to zoom.butler.edu.
- Sign in with your Butler email address and password.
- Click Recordings from the left-hand navigation menu to view all Cloud recordings.
- Select the recording you are looking for to manipulate or download.
