Re-using the Same Channel Name in Teams

This article demonstrates how to re-use a channel name. A use case would be if you created a public channel but then decided it needed to be a private channel. 

Channels can be restored 30 days after being deleted. During this time creating a channel with the same name is not possible. After 30 days, the name is available.

You can workaround this by restoring a deleted channel, renaming it, and then deleting the channel again. The previous name is then available for use.

Restore a deleted channel: 
NOTE: You must be a Team Owner to perform these steps. 

1. Click the ellipses (...) next to the Team name
2. Click the "Manage Team" option
3. Click the "Channels" tab
4. Expand the "Deleted" option under the list of channels
5. Click the "Restore" option along the right side of the channel you wish to restore
6. Click the "Restore" button
7. The channel and conversations should be restored
