If the camera is working in some applications like Photo Booth but will not work in other applications like Microsoft Teams even though everything is set correctly in the application, check that the operating system has permission to access the camera.
To check permissions:
- Click the Apple icon in the top left corner
- Click System Preferences
- Click Security & Privacy
- Click the Privacy tab
- Click the camera icon in the left pane
- Click the lock in the lower left corner
- Enter the password used to log in to the machine
- Click the box next to the application that needs access to the camera
- Quit System Preferences
- Test
