TitleHow to Use Headings in Microsoft 365
Resolution Description
Headings provide structure and outline the content of the document. This allows users of screen readers to jump quickly between different document sections and understand the overall structure of the document. Use the built-in headings tool in your source software (e.g. Microsoft Word) to create headings. Simply bolding, underlining, or making text larger is not considered an accessible heading. A lack of headings prevents a screen reader from easily navigating through the document since the assistive technology has no reference as to what the document's structure is.
