When using Microsoft Teams, you can only work on one file at a time within the Teams application itself. However, there are multiple ways outside of the Teams application to work on multiple files at the same time
From the Files Area (left hand menu) of Teams:
- Hover over the file you want to open.
- Right click or click on the three dots to the right of the file name and choose either (1) Open in Browser or (2) Open in Desktop App. If you choose to open the file in your browser, you will be utilizing the online version of the software. If you choose to open the file in the desktop app, you will be utilizing traditional software installed on your computer to work on the files.
- Repeat for the rest of the files you wish to work on.
From a Channel Files Area in Teams:
- Hover over the file you want to open.
- Right click or click on the three dots to the right of the file name and choose either Open > Open in App Online or Open in App. App will be the Office application associated with the file type. If you choose to open the file online, you will be utilizing the online version of the software. If you choose to open the file in the desktop app, you will be utilizing traditional software installed on your computer to work on the files.
- Repeat for the rest of the files you wish to work on.
From an Open File in Teams:
- You already have a file open in the Teams client but want to switch to editing it in the desktop app.
- In the menu bar click on Open in Desktop App.
- After the desktop app opens the file, close the file in the Teams app.
