TitleHow do I switch Zoom's recording quality to 1080p? (Instructors)
Resolution Description
The default video quality for Zoom is 720p. To switch your webcam recording to 1080p, follow these directions. (For online courses, Noodle requires a minimum of 1080p quality for recordings.)

Note: We do not recommend hosting Zoom meetings using the 1080p setting because it may cause disruptions to your participants. Use the 1080p settings to record yourself as an alternative to using the Panopto Recorder. Make sure to switch the setting back to 720p for your regular Zoom meetings.

Requirements:

  • Webcam capable of 1080p - Please note that many webcams built into laptops may not record at 1080p.  A 1080p webcam can be checked out from CAT.
  • Zoom app

Switching to 1080p

  1. Log in to zoom.butler.edu.
  2. Select Settings from the menu on the left.
  3. In the Search Settings box, type in "HD" and press Enter.
  4. Change the Group HD video setting to Full HD (1080P).
  5. Press Save.
  6. After creating your recording, change the setting back to Standard HD (720P).
