When to Use Panopto
If a class session needs to be recorded and there is
no need to live stream, the recommendation is to 1) use Panopto, create a manual recording, and save it directly to the course Panopto folder or 2) request automatic recordings to be set-up from the classroom computer. If a course will be live-streamed, the recommendation is to use Zoom and the Zoom/Panopto integration to save course recordings. (
How do I set up Zoom recordings to automatically save to my Panopto course folder?)
Provision Your Canvas Course for Panopto
Set up your Panopto course folder:
Upon provisioning your Panopto couse folder, you (the instructor) can upload videos into the main course folder. Your students will be able to upload videos into the nested "assignment folder" located in your course folder.
Request Automatic Panopto Recordings in the Classroom
Note: With automatic recordings, only Screen Capture and Audio will be recorded. To record the classroom Video Camera or Document Camera, create a
manual Panopto recording during each class session instead of requesting automatic recordings. Additionally, you will not be able to use Zoom or the Panopto Recorder simultaneously when Panopto automatic recordings are in progress.
