New Tool Pilot Process
The academic technology tools used in class can have a significant impact on our students' experience at Butler. To ensure that we are setting up our students for success, all new tools will be treated as pilots. Prior to using a new tool with students, instructors will work with both the IT team and the academic technology team to evaluate the tool across 10 categories. Before the pilot, the instructor will create student-facing information: a syllabus statement to inform students of the tool pilot and a procedure statement outlining what students can expect. Instructors will also implement a feedback survey to collect information about the student experience.

View the pre-launch tool evaluation rubric here. Before students use the new tool, instructors will collaborate with IT and the academic technology team to complete this rubric.
