To minimize cheating during online quizzes, instructors can temporarily hide modules from their students.
Note that any published assignment/quiz will still be visible on the course calendar and syllabus page. Instructors can hide modules in three ways:
Option 1: Unpublish the Module
- Select Modules from the left-hand navigation.
- Ensure the quiz is in a module by itself or in a module that will remain visible.
- Click the publish icon next to the module name.
- Repeat for all modules that need to be hidden.
- After the quiz, republish all modules.
Option 2: Hide the "Modules" Course Navigation Link
- Select Settings from the Course Navigation.
- Select Navigation from the tabs at the top of the page.
- Drag and drop the Modules link to the disabled tools area.
- Find Quizzes in the disabled tools, and drag and drop it into the active tools area.
- After the quiz, return to the settings area to disable Quizzes and re-enable Modules.
Option 3: Lock the Module
- Ensure the quiz is in a module by itself or in a module that will remain visible.
- Select the three-dot menu next to the module name and select Edit.
- Check off the Lock Until box.
- Enter a date and time after the quiz for your students to regain access to the modules.
- Click Update Module.
- Repeat for all modules that need to be hidden.
