TitleHow do I give a student an extra quiz attempt in Canvas? (Instructors)
Resolution Description
For students with a stated need for accommodation, whose connection is distrupted, who accidentally submit, or who missed the first quiz window, instructors can grant these students a second window to take a quiz.

For Classic Quizzes

  1. Navigate to the quiz and click on the quiz name.
  2. Select Moderate This Quiz.
  3. Find the student's name and select the Change user extensions (pencil) button.
  4. In the Extra Attempts field, enter 1 and press Save.
  5. Navigate back to the quiz details page and select Edit.
  6. Scroll to the bottom and click Add under the Assign box.
  7. Enter the student's name in the Assign to field.
  8. Enter the new due date and availability date.
  9. Click Save.
 

For New Quizzes

  1. Navigate to the quiz and click on the quiz name.
  2. Select Moderate from the top menu.
  3. Find the student's name and select Moderate at the far right.
  4. In the Additional Attempts field, enter 1.
  5. Select the X above the student's name to close the window.
  6. Click Return at the top-right of the screen.
  7. Select the Options (three dots) button to the right of the quiz name and select Edit.
  8. Scroll to the bottom and click Add under the Assign box.
  9. Enter the student's name in the Assign to field.
  10. Enter the new due date and availability date.
  11. Click Save.
