How to Print from a Butler Computer

Add a Printer to a Butler Windows Computer:

There are 2 ways to add a Butler printer to a Butler Windows Computer.

Method 1:

1. Ensure that you are connected to Butler's network using a wired connection or Butler Secure wireless.
2. Locate the "Add Printers" shortcut icon on your desktop and double-click it
3. When the File Explorer window appears with a list of printers, locate the desired printer and double-click it.
4. If prompted to trust the driver from BUprint, click the "Install driver" button to continue.
5. Once the installation is complete, a print queue box should appear (example below). You should now be able to print to the printer. Note: you may need to restart some applications for them to display the newly-added printer in a print dialog. 

5. To set a default printer, click on "Printer" in the queue dropdown, and click on "Set as Default Printer": if you are unable to set it as the default using those steps, follow these instructions  

Method 2:

1. Ensure that you are connected to Butler's network using a wired connection or Butler Secure wireless.
2. Click on the Start Menu button and type: \\buprint
3. Press the Enter key on the keyboard.
4. When the File Explorer window appears with a list of printers, locate the desired printer and double-click it.
5. If prompted to trust the driver from BUprint, click the "Install driver" button to continue.
6. Once the installation is complete, a print queue box should appear (example below). You should now be able to print to the printer. Note: you may need to restart some applications for them to display the newly-added printer in a print dialog. 

7. To set a default printer, click on "Printer" in the queue dropdown, and click on "Set as Default Printer": if you are unable to set as the default using those steps, follow these instructions  

Add a Printer to a Butler Mac Computer:

1. Ensure that you are connected to Butler's network using a wired connection or Butler Secure wireless.
2. Begin a Spotlight search by clicking the magnifying glass in the top right corner of your screen.
3. Type Self Service in the search bar and press the Enter key on the keyboard.
4. When the Self Service application opens, click "Printing" in the left pane.
5. Locate the desired printer and click the "Install" or "Add" button. You may scan the list manually or use the search field (next to the magnifying glass) in the top left corner of the Self Service dialog. Note: The "Install" or "Add" buttons may be labeled "Reinstall" if the printer has been installed previously.
6. Once the installation is complete, you should now be able to print to the printer. Note: you may need to restart some applications for them to display the newly-added printer in a print dialog.
7. To set a default printer: follow these instructions.
