Can I use Turnitin in Canvas without it storing my students’ papers? (Instructors)

Turnitin Framework

When using the Turnitin Framework (i.e. Turnitin Similarity Report only), Turnitin settings can be modified in the Canvas assignment settings.

1. Navigate to the assignment and select Edit.
2. If Turnitin is not enabled, select Turnitin under the Plagarism Review field.
3. Select Do not store the submitted papers from the Store submissions in dropdown.
4. Select Save to update the settings.

 

Turnitin External Tool

To prevent Turnitin from storing students’ papers:

1. Go to the Turnitin Assignment in Canvas.
2. Select Settings in the top right corner of the Turnitin page.
3. Select Optional Settings at the bottom of the page.
4. In the drop-down menu under Submission Settings, select Do not store the submitted papers.
5. Click Submit.
